Description

This well documented 1970s Christian Dior dress and jacket set was designed for the House's youthful Diorling line. The original label reads “Diorling by Christian Dior - London” and is numbered 0150. The provenance of this dress is proven in photographs of the Diorling Spring Collection 1973. We also attach an editorial shot from the April issue of Vogue 1973.

Crafted from a thick pale yellow-cream wool flannel, this fun dress and jacket are patterned with geometric, Art Deco-esque forms in black, yellow and green. The dress is detailed with bright yellow wool trim at the rounded collar, around the armholes and outlining the waistband. It has a playful, flippy skirt which falls to below the knee. A concealed zip secures the back. The jacket is tailored from the same fabric to a boxy, collarless style. There are thick yellow wool trims along the hems and curved patch pockets. The bold, playful buttons are crafted from yellow and silver plastic. Both the jacket and dress are lined in cream satin.

This dress and jacket are in excellent archival vintage condition with no issues of any note. The fabric has no stretch. We estimate a best fit for up to sizes UK 12-14 or US 8-10.

Notes on Designer (Courtesy of the VAM, London): The Diorling label was launched at the Christian Dior London boutique on Conduit Street in March 1968. Designed by Dior London head designer Jorn Langberg, the collection consisted of ready-to-wear garments aimed at a young clientele.
