1930s Floral Black Burnout Velvet Dress with Fluted Sleeves
Description
Black velvet and silk 1930s dress with a V-neck crossover front and frilled mesh trim finished with delicate beading. The dress has silk georgette fluted sleeves which are semi transparent and finished with further intricate black beaded detail to both the arms and cuffs. The main fabric is comprised of black burnout velvet, in a large floral design reminiscent of the Art Nouveau movement which occurred during the first half of the twentieth century. It is lined in inky black mulberry silk, save for the sleeves.
The garment is generously sized, though without any kind of closure and would fit up to a UK 12-14 or US 8-10. There are no major faults to note; it is without labels and most certainly a dress maker piece.
