'Westbourne Grove Sunset'
This was a glorious summer sunset! I was walking around near where I live in W10 London. The way the light shone on the 19th century buildings, inspired me to see all sorts of warmth and shapes. The view is from Queensway, Bayswater, looking up to Notting Hill. I've widened the view like an american street, which creates space. If you go there it's much narrower!
This painting, like most, took me a good while. I paint many 'under layers', using the tones of the image to build up richness and depth.
