This 1930s jacket is tailored from sleek black colobus monkey fur and is one of the highest quality jackets from this era that Circa has seen in over 25 years of business. This fur was used by famed designer Elsa Schiaparelli throughout the 1930s and 1940s. Marilyn Monroe, Mick and Bianca Jagger, Loulou de la Falaise, Kate Moss and Michele Lamy have all been photographed in these exclusive furs - a rare relic from a by-gone age. This glossy jacket has a boxy construction, with large shoulder pads and a cropped length - the perfect accompaniment to a beautiful evening gown. It fastens at the neck with a decadent ornamental buckle detailed with metalwork shaped into art nouveau motifs. It is also secured with large, fabric-covered hook-and-eyes along the front. The jacket is lined with matte black silk for a comfortable, luxurious wear.

In fantastic vintage condition with no faults of any note; the fur is in particularly fine condition, very supple and not shedding. Likely a bespoke piece made by a high end couturier or fur atelier, it has no labels remaining. Please check our measurements below; this would fit a range of sizes between a UK 6-10, US 2-6.
