Description

This staple dress was designed by Yves Saint Laurent for his ready to wear label "Rive Gauche"; a reference to Paris’s younger, trendier Left Bank. Tailored to a classic 1980s style, the fabric is black and printed with bright red polka-dots and painterly metallic gold spots which shine as they catch the light. It has long sleeves with a subtle bell-sleeve and a cuff that fastens with a hammered gold-tone metal button. It has a large rounded collar and a button-down front with a half-placket which closes with three of these glamorous gold buttons. There is a tie under the collar which creates a bow at the front of the neck. The dress has a laid-back, blouse-like fit to the top which is cinched by a waistband and then gives way to a relaxed knee-length skirt. There is a slit in the front side of the skirt which gives it the appearance of a wrap-around fit. The dress is unlined, aside from the shoulder pads. Made in France, the fabric feels like a silk/rayon blend.

In excellent vintage condition - looks barely worn with no issues. It has no composition or size labels and the fabric has no stretch. Our model is 5' 7" and a UK 6, US 2 - this fit her well but please note the small waist measurement below.
