Description

A very fine black Soprarizzo velvet and brass hardware bag circa late 1940s to early 1950s. With exquisite craftsmanship and materials, it was almost certainly made in Venice and is possibly a very early example by Roberto di Camerino or Cesare Puccini; the bag is without a maker's mark. It is debossed with an intricate pattern that recalls the stained glass windows of grand churches. It features a large flap pocket on the outside, which closes with an intricate brass and black leather pull clasp. The black top handle is crafted from strands of black velvet, held together with a wider velvet band with thick black braided stitches. Detailed with intricate brass hardware, it locks at the top and the unusual arrow-shaped key is tied to the handle. Lined with burgundy leather, it has a zip pocket and slip pocket inside. In very good vintage condition overall, minor wear to some of the edges and corners of the front flap pocket noted; very small hole to interior leather on flap, some light surface scratches to interior burgundy leather.
