1990s Genny Purple Satin Jumpsuit with Silver Embroidery

This alluring magenta silk jumpsuit was created by Italian ready-to-wear manufacturer Genny during the late 1990s. Genny is typical of a number of Italian fashion companies manufacturing high quality ready-to-wear lines designed for them by leading names in the industry, yet launched under the company's own label. Gianni Versace was notably Genny’s creative director for 20 years from 1973 and Christian Lacroix also worked at the brand.

Made in Italy, this all-in-one is crafted from magnificent magenta hued silk. It has a draped, wrap front which is cut sensuously low. The waist is elasticated. The trousers are tailored to a harem style; generously cut around the hips, they narrow towards the ankles. The sleeves are long and are finished with fabric-covered button cuffs. The top is unlined but the trousers are lined with a tonal crepe. It has in-seam pockets at the hips which add to the slouchy feel. Special attention has been paid to the collar and neckline, where silver embroidery is used to embellish flowers, leaves and vines, dotted with tonal violet rhinestones - a decadent detail typical of Genny during this era.

The jumpsuit is in excellent vintage condition with no issues. There are no size or composition labels and the fabric has no stretch save for the waistband (see measurements below). We suggest a best fit a size UK 8, 10 and 12 and US equivalent 4, 6, 8.
