Description

This striking Christian Dior brooch was designed by the world-renowned fashion house circa late 1970s to early 1980s. We have found an editorial campaign featuring similar designs from the 1982 collection and it was almost certainly manufactured by Henkel & Grosse who have a long association with jewellery making for Dior.

Drawing on jewellery motifs designed in the Mughal tradition, it is composed of five teardrop-shaped forms crafted from gold-toned alloy and detailed with a carved edge in the style of a twisted rope. Each teardrop features a cabochon gem in either rose pink, apple green or amethyst purple-blue, again surrounded by twisted rope edging, alongside dozens of tiny rhinestones. The back features a long clasp which is secured with a C-clasp. There is a stamp on the rear of the brooch that reads “Chr. Dior” and the copyright symbol, alongside another stamp which reads “Germany”.

This brooch is in excellent vintage condition with no flaws and no wear to the gold anywhere.
