Description

This Gucci knitted top is from Fall 2004 and from Tom Ford's final collection as Creative Director of the fashion house. The woven fabric is in a rich caramel brown hue - a signature colour of the Italian brand. The fabric is woven to a super-soft, slinky knit which is extremely light to the touch and has a fairly open weave that hints at the skin underneath. Tom Ford-era Gucci is known for the overt-sexuality yet wearability of its designs. The long sleeves are smooth whereas the centre of the body and back are ruched and pleated in forms that mimic the curves of the body. The front and rear necklines form low-Vs and are adorned with criss-crossing straps which recall bondage detailing and play to the sensuous aesthetic of Tom Ford’s greatest designs. The body is elongated, falling to almost a tunic length.

Although not featured on the runway, this purple documented dress has similar pleated detailing and we have used to attribute the collection as many of the Tom Ford era knitted designs are not date coded. The top is in excellent vintage condition with no issues and looks barely worn. It is made of 100% Viscose and is labelled a size S, but sizes vary between brands. The fabric has some stretch so please allow a small degree of flexibility on the below measurements.
