A rock photo of David Bowie on the Trans-Siberian Express, originally shot in 1973 by legendary photographer Leee Black Childers.
Leee Black Childers was the road manager for David Bowie and when David had finished playing a tour of Japan, Leee arranged for them to get back to Europe on the Trans Siberian Express. This photo was taken in the natural light of the train window and was considered by Leee to be one of his very best pictures and is widely acclaimed. On the train the warmest part of the train was the guards van where David and Leee played an impromptu concerts to keep warm and the female guards loved the performances.
Leee Black Childers was a photographer in Andy Warhol's Factory and also managed the Heartbreakers that he brought over on the Anarchy Tour in Britain in 1976. He originally met David Bowie when he was creative director of the play Pork that played at the Roundhouse at Camden and starred Jayne County and Cherry Vanila. This play helped give David the inspiration to create his Ziggy Stardust persona.
