2013 Runway Saint Laurent Tuxedo High Low Dress with Sequin Bib

This tuxedo-inspired high-low dress walked the runway as part of Hedi Slimane's debut collection for Saint Laurent Spring 2013 (look 13/67). Designed with a fitted black body cut from slippery black jersey, the dress features a deep curved neckline that reveals an integrated pleated white shirt bib crafted from silk and adorned with sequins, complete with a crisp pointed collar. The pleating combined with the sequin work demonstrates a high level of technical know-how typical of the French fashion house. Sequinned white silk cuffs extend slightly past the black sleeves for a sharp contrast. The skirt is cut short at the front and drops into a dramatic, elongated back panel that creates a fluid train effect when worn. At the neckline, a voluminous black chiffon bow with raw, frayed edges sits beneath the collar, adding movement to the formal neckline. The dress is unlined. It fastens under the bib with hidden hook-and-eyes and four snap closures. There is also a hidden tonal black zip under the left arm.

This archival dress is in excellent vintage condition with no issues. It is tailored from 57% Acetate, 43% Viscose with a contrast of 100% Silk at the bib. Labelled a size French 38, UK 10, US 6.
