1996 Chanel Black Velvet Cigarette Pants

These elegant black velvet trousers were designed by Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel in 1996. We're leaning more towards these being from spring 1996 on account of the button design for that entire collection matching this pair. We have also included a near identical design in different colourways from the fall 1996 collection with a more elaborate gripoix button designed for that collection.
Tailored from the house’s thick cotton-mix velvet, they have a smooth and rich, inky black hue. Cut to a cigarette silhouette, they are high waisted and they fasten at the side of the hip with a hidden tonal zip, hook-and-eye clasp and black button adorned with a gold-tone double-C logo. The waistband is lined with black grosgrain. The length of the trousers is unlined. The ankles showcase the stand-out detail of these trousers - featuring split cuffs, they are finished with three black buttons with the house’s iconic gold-tone CC logo.
In excellent vintage condition with no flaws of any note. They have the classic white on black Chanel label and the composition label reads 70% Cotton, 27% Modal, 3% Elastane. They have no size label so please check our below measurements carefully. The fabric has no stretch. Our model is a UK 6 on top and 8 bottom or US 2-4 and these trousers fit her well.
