Description

This late 1920s or early 1930s slip dress exudes glamour. The woven black and gold lace lame is known as cobweb lame and is highly prized from this period. The dress follows an elongated shift line, that flows over the body fanning out generously below the knee into an ornate fishtail that would fall to around ankle or floor level depending on the height of the wearer. A particularly special feature of the piece is the exquisite shoulder detail. Individual lace segments decorate the top of the sleeve in a delicate leaf design, accentuating the delightfully feminine feel of the gown.

A wearable dress and in excellent antique condition. It's just about as good as it gets for lame of this age and has some exceptionally light tarnishing which is barely noticeable as it does not present as dark patches. It would suit a variety of sizes up to US size 6-8, UK size 10-12. Unlabelled but lame of this quality was made in France.  We have photographed with and without a black silk slip; for red carpets, these dresses look fantastic with modern body suits underneath such as skims.
