1960s Couture Cream and Blue Geometric Silk Dress and Jacket
Description
This cream and blue geometric silk dress and matching jacket were made by Miss Stevens, a London couture dressmaker working in the 1960s and early 1970s. Elegant and effortlessly flattering, the sleeveless dress is cut in a classic shift silhouette with careful panelled construction, a softly rounded neckline and a gently A-line skirt, finished with two pleats falling from halfway down for subtle movement. A matching fabric belt detail wraps around the back of the dress, anchored at the centre back and stopping at the side seams without meeting at the front, creating a refined, lightly sculpting effect. Fully lined in a cream crepe, the dress fastens neatly at the back of the neck with a concealed tonal zip and hook-and-eye.
The coordinating jacket is cropped and boxy with a nipped-in waist, long sleeves cut wide and relaxed, and a curved neckline with a softly shaped collar. Lined in cream crepe and designed to hang open with no fastenings, it completes this sharp mid-century patterned set.
This ensemble is in excellent vintage condition and looks barely worn. Please note, there are some very, very tiny snags to the blue part of the print but that also might be due to the shot silk’s natural texture. They cannot be noticed when worn. There are no size or composition labels so please check the below measurements carefully as the fabric has no stretch. Our model's sizes are: Bust: 34" (87cm), Waist: 24" (61cm), Hips: 34" (86cm) and Height: 5' 4" (164cm). She's a size UK 6, US 0-2 and this fit her perfectly; the ensemble is better suited to someone this height or below.
