Description

This striking pendant necklace, circa 1960s, has all the hallmarks of a Robert Goossens piece. The renowned jewellery designer was one of the most famous in all France and produced haute couture jewellery for Cristóbal Balenciaga, Madame Grès, Christian Dior, Pierre Balmain, Jean Dessès and many others. His most famous associations were from 1954 with Coco Chanel, and from 1972 with Yves Saint Laurent. Robert retired in 2005 when Chanel bought the Goossens workshop. It is now a Maison's d’art Atelier.

Composed of two long three-strand chains, the pendant is crafted from an elaborate gold-toned filigree cage that houses a large egg-shaped stone that looks to be faux-jade. The pendant is further detailed with tiny rhinestones and five chains hang from it, each finished with rhinestones and small faux-jade stones. The long chains that hold the pendant are also detailed with rhinestones and small faux-jade stones. The necklace fastens behind the neck with an engraved clasp and a gold-toned ring. This necklace is in excellent vintage condition, with just a tiny bit of wear to the filigree but hardly noticeable when worn.
