Description

This midnight blue and white gingham cotton dress was made in the USA in the late 1950s to 1960s by an unknown designer. A desirable shirtwaister style which falls to just below the knee, it is full-skirted and pleated, typical hallmarks of dresses which straddled these two decades. It has short-sleeves and a nipped-in waist. It has a rounded neckline, thoughtfully edged with black trim. The front of the dress fastens with five black plastic buttons, each with a large glistening central rhinestone. Either side of the buttons, the dress is detailed with black appliqué leaves with embroidered red edges. It has a matching belt made from the same gingham fabric which threads through belt loops at the sides of the dress. The skirt is softly pleated and kicks out around the wearer as they walk. This dress is unlined.

In excellent vintage condition with no flaws; the cotton is fresh looking, clean and ready to wear. Due to its age, it does not have a size or composition label so please check our below measurements carefully. The fabric has no stretch. We estimate a good fit for up to a UK 10-12 or US 6-8 with a smaller waist.
