Description
This sophisticated 1970s floral print jersey dress is by the couture French fashion house Leonard. The designer Daniel Tribouillard defined his aesthetic using printed silk fabrics, much akin to Pucci with whom his designs are often associated. Like Pucci, the Leonard signature is often incorporated into the surface design; in this instance, it can be found in the petals of the orchid flowers in the print of which the House adopted as its emblem. Soft pastel shades in pale lilac, yellow, orange and ochre depicting a bold orchid design contrast beautifully against a navy background. The line of the dress is simple and elegant with a round neckline and short sleeves that flare ever so slightly. It falls below the waist in a flared navy monochrome a-line with a deep front kick pleat for ease of movement. There is a band of fabric with a variation of the principle design to trim the neck, waist and hemline.

The dress fastens at the reverse with the original zip and would fit up to US size 8, UK 12 and sizes smaller. Unusually for Leonard, the patterned print top is made from silk jersey, whilst the skirt element is poly jersey as the separate fabric labels contest to. Great vintage condition - no issues.
