Description

This embellished pinafore skirt is by Alexander McQueen and was seen on the runway as look 16 for the brand’s Spring 2007 collection. Designed before the Lee's tragic death in 2010, McQueen house codes abound. Note the subtle hint of gothicism, the canny draping of the inky-black crepe and the intricate beading that creates fantastical forms along the pinafore’s sides. Adorned with rhinestones, metallic beads and silver sequins, the glittering straps give way to a form-fitting, decadently-detailed skirt that hugs the body - the perfect pairing to a high-neck bodysuit, or a piece of glamorous lingerie if you dare. A concealed zip secures the back and this piece is fully lined in black crepe. This pinafore is in excellent vintage condition and comes with a small bag of spare beads still-attached to the label. Lee McQueen runway pieces are increasingly scarce to market and many of his designs are now held in fashion institutions and museums. We consider this piece to be archival vintage and an investment that can also be enjoyed by the wearer. Labelled an Italian 42 which equates to a UK 10 or US 6. The fabric is composed of acetate and viscose.
