Description

Carolina Herrera’s Spring 2011 collection took inspiration from traditional Korean clothing and 18th century botanical plates. As Vogue wrote, the runway show “nailed the understated grandeur that's long been a Herrera signature”. This standout gown, which was Look 33 on the runway, hints at both of these sources of inspiration. Woven florals in sage, salmon pink, cornflower blue and inky black climb a fitted, silvery grey fishtail skirt which has a slight sheen. Adorned with contrasting tones of khaki and forest green silk, a wide leather belt cinches the waist and ties with a pretty knot at the front. This belt differs slightly from the runway version and the knotted feature here mirrors the stitched banding on the bodice of the dress. This corseted, strapless bodice in tangerine silk has a panelled construction and is detailed with a band of coordinating cloth that sits just under the bust.

The Carolina Herrera fashion house is known for dressing First Ladies and is a constant feature on the red carpet at award events and premieres. In the words of Vogue when describing this collection,”If it's grandeur plain and simple a girl is after, she should look no further.” Presented in excellent vintage condition with no issues, this beautiful and rare gown is guaranteed to make an entrance. Labelled a US 2, this equates to a UK 6. Made from a cotton, polyester, acetate blend and lined in 100% silk. Our model (5ft 4 in / 163 cm) is a UK 6-8 and this dress fit her well.
