Description

This cotton floor length maxi dress is classic Rumak, the bohemian London boutique that reached peak popularity during the 1970s and emulated the style and certainly the quality of celebrated British designer Thea Porter.

Crafted from a patchwork of floral and pale turquoise and white polka-dot cotton; the colours of the floral cloth are picked out in delicate cross-stitched roses on the beautiful appliquéd bibbed front which was something of a Rumak signature. This bibbed front is tailored like an apron with ties that wrap around the waist and fasten at the rear. The dress is secured with a long, tonal zip at the back. The shoulders are adored with ruffles that are finished with lilac trim. The hem of the skirt is finished with lilac satin and lilac and cream crochet. Unlined, the floral fabric is possibly a Liberty print design.

In very good to excellent vintage condition; there is a very small pale yellow mark and a slightly larger, dispersed mark on the inner seam of the left sleeve - they cannot be noticed when worn. The size label reads UK 12 but vintage sizes vary hugely so please check our measurements below as the cotton fabric does not have any stretch to it. Our model (5ft 4in / 163cm) is a UK 6-8 or US 2-4 and this dress was long on her and roomy in the bust. We estimate this a good fit for up to a size UK 10 or US 6.
