1960s De-Jans Pearl White Beaded Top and Skirt
Description
This opulent two-piece ensemble is composed of a sleeveless tank top and pencil skirt pairing. It was made in Hong Kong in the 1960s, an area known for its outstanding beadwork during this time. Both the top and skirt are woven from white and silver lace. The lace is embellished all-over with tiny seed-shaped pearls, grouped into three to form tiny flower shapes. The top has a wide, rounded neckline and a straight-cut silhouette. The bottom hem is finished with looped strands of tiny white beads that gives the appearance of fringing. The sheer white lace of the top is backed by a sheer white chiffon. The skirt is cut to a high-waist fit. It has a straight cut and falls to below the knee. The beadwork starts three inches below the waistband, revealing silver metallic detailing to the white lace. The skirt is not lined with white chiffon but it contains an off-white slip. The skirt fastens with a hidden tonal white zip and two hook-and-eye clasps.
This would make a wonderful alternative wedding outfit as the ensemble is in very good vintage condition, particularly for a piece of this level of intricate detailing. There is virtually no embellishment loss, no staining and only very gentle wear noted. It has no size or composition label so please check the measurements below carefully. We estimate a best fit for a size UK 6 or US 2 as it is petite with no stretch.
