1960s Metallic Indian Gold and Red Silk Waistcoat
Description
This magnificent, elongated waistcoat was designed in the 1960s from very fine Indian woven silk. Tailored to a fitted silhouette, it is cut to echo the curves of the body and falls below the hip-line to the thigh. It has a high Mandarin collar and is adorned with dozens of stunning fabric-covered buttons the length of the front which fasten through fabric loops. The bottom of the waistcoat is left slight open below the buttons. The fabric is beautiful; a bright lipstick red shot silk woven with Indian florals in metallic gold thread that glimmer as they catch the light. The top is lined in red satin.
This collectable and original boho chic piece is likely bespoke made although Liberty retailed garments in this fabric during London's fashionable 'swinging 60s' period. In excellent vintage condition with no flaws of any note. It is unlabeled so please check our measurements below as the fabric has no stretch. We believe it would best fit a size UK 10 or US 6 and can be tailored.
