1960s Royal Blue Silk Satin Pleated Handbag

This 1960s top handle bag is crafted from a rich, blueish-purple silk satin and pleated all-over with swirling forms across its base where the pleating gathers. It has a structured top with a gold-toned metal clasp closure inside. There are fabric loops either side of the bag which you pull in opposing directions to open. Inside, it is fully lined throughout with pale peach satin. There is a large central compartment with a small slip pocket. Inside the slip pocket, there is a small satin purse with snap closure and a small satin-covered mirror.

In very good to excellent vintage condition and although unlabelled, it is a very finely crafted bag from the era. We noted a few spots on the top of the bag which have slightly changed colour to a more purplish hue, and, the mirror has some aged related foxing - both of these are very minor. You can see the spotting on the photo of the bag when it is open. I can fit my iPhone 16 Pro Max in so a pretty sure fit for most larger phones on the market.
