1950s Christian Dior by Mitchel Maer Blue Crystal Brooch
Description
This Christian Dior brooch was designed by Mitchel Maer, who created jewellery for the house of Dior from 1952 to 1956. Crafted from a dark silver-toned alloy metal, it forms a pretty trefoil or flower shape. The three large circular stones are a deep cerulean blue but shine aqua in the light. They are set amongst four square stones in an aqua hue. The stones are held with chunky clasps and the silver-toned metal has cut-out areas that let the light shine through. The back features a long clasp which is secured with a C-clasp. There is a stamp on the rear of the brooch that reads “Christian Dior by Mitchel Maer”.
This brooch is in excellent vintage condition with no issues. An identical design was exhibited at the V&A Museum for The Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams show, held during 2019, in London.
