1950s Sambo Fashions Cotton Floral Print Dress With Full Skirt
Description
This lovely floral cotton dress is by collectable vintage brand "Sambo" fashions. Designed by Samuel Sherman, this piece is of beautiful quality as well as in excellent vintage condition. Sambo designs were well known for their lively printed summer dresses and use of high quality cottons - for example, Marchington Cottons - and often likened to celebrated brand Horrockses. This charming piece showcases these attributes to perfection. The thick cotton fabric is printed with an abstract floral design in pretty pastel tones - pink and yellow flowers are scattered over a mottled pale blue and white design reminiscent of faded denim. The dress has a soft, feminine line with a wide scoop neck, short sleeves and princess seams on the bodice to define the bust and waist. The waistband is skillfully cut into a zig-zag line and is defined with a dainty piped seam before falling into a full ankle length skirt. The skirt fabric is wonderfully generous and has volume which could be further accentuated with a petticoat. There is a central zip fastening at the reverse.
In wonderful vintage condition, due to its age, there are no size or composition labels so please check the below measurements closely. Would best suit a US size 6-8, UK size 10-12.
