Description

This enchanting wedding dress, with its tiered construction and layers of delicate cotton tulle, was created in the early to mid 1950s - most likely America. The design features a strapless bodice with a fitted bust and sweetheart neckline that reveals the décolletage. The bust is detailed with delicate layers of ruched tulle which cross over at the front. The silhouette is fitted at the waist and flares out gently at the skirt. Neat layers of ruffled net adorn the gown from the waist down the skirt, dropping down the dress towards the back. These layers draw the eye whilst the gown swirls around the wearer complete with a small train which puddles beautifully at the back. The original metal zip fastens the dress under the left arm. The bodice and skirt are fully lined in a quality man-made satin which is close to the skin for a comfortable wear. The skirt is paired with another layer of plain net and then the ornate ruffled overskirt to finish. The bust contains two fabric-covered weights to ensure it sits correctly.

This well made wedding dress is clean, restored and ready to wear for your big day. If we are being picky, there are one or two tiny blemishes to the tulle in the ruffle layers but you have to be looking very closely with the dress in hand to see these. For a dress of her age, she is in remarkable vintage condition but will require a further pressing or steam prior to wear. There are no labels remaining in the dress so please check our measurements closely below as the fabric does not have any stretch to it. We think this would best suit a UK sizes 6 or US 2 with plenty of give in the hip.
