1950s Turquoise Satin Pearl-Adorned Evening Dress with Bow Bust
Description
This decadent 1950s evening gown is cut from the most beautiful deep turquoise/teal satin, which has an iridescent burgundy reverse - flashes of which can be seen under the skirt as the wearer moves. It has a floor-sweeping cut with a full-skirt generously cut from swathes of satin. The skirt is gently pleated at the waistband. The gown has a one-shoulder silhouette formed from a large turquoise satin bow that sits across the chest. One of the bow’s ears attaches to the wide satin shoulder strap. The bow is embellished with tiny rhinestones, pearls and pink crystals, alongside flowers formed from pink sequin petals circling a pearl centre. It is lined at the bust with a tonal mesh and is boned to hold its shape. The dress fastens at the back with a hidden zip and hook-and-eye clasp. The skirt is unlined.
This gown is in very good vintage condition and presents beautifully. There are a few faint marks on some of the edges of the bow, a few lost in the fullness of the skirt and a few tiny pulls but these cannot be noticed when worn. At the back there are a few age related marks which blend in very well with the luminosity and richness of the fabric.
