Description

Blanes was a well-regarded London ready-to-wear house that was in operation from the 1940s to the late 1960s. The clothes were very well made and retailed in some of the top department stores of the day. Tailored from a faux cream shot-silk, this dress is cut to a short, knee-length style. The fabric is adorned with cream lace which is detailed with cappuccino-brown embroidery that outlines a floral design. The dress has a cross-over front with a V-neckline at the front and back. A band of cream faux silk circles the dress just under the bust and is finished with a flat bow. The dress is lined with cream satin viscose/acetate throughout and fastens at the centre back with a hidden cream zip.

Made in England, the dress is in very good to excellent vintage condition and is clean and ready to wear. It is labelled a vintage UK size 16 but this bares no relation to modern sizing and is around a modern UK 8 or US 4. It has no composition labels and the fabric has no stretch.
