1970s Ellis Tassel Detail Tiered Cream Lace Wedding Dress
Description
This enchanting wedding dress, with its tiered construction and layers of delicate, machined lace was created in the 1970s by well-known UK heritage bridal brand - Ellis. The company, formed over 110 years ago, was pioneered by female founder Ada Ellis who created bespoke wedding dresses for London’s early 20th Century aristocracy.
The Circa team love getting hold of Ellis's vintage creations as they are so well made. This design has a sleeveless top with a fitted bust and rounded neckline that reveals the décolletage. The silhouette is empire; two top layers fall from the bust and flow down over the skirt, each with a handkerchief hem. This gown comes with a coordinating lace cape that, when added, mirrors the handkerchief hems and is finished with a decadent tassel in a tonal hue. These layers draw the eye whilst the gown swirls around the wearer. Up-close, the detail of the beautiful lace is revealed, composed of intricately woven, trumpet-shaped flowers. A concealed, tonal zip fastens the back.
This wedding dress is in excellent vintage condition with no flaws of any note. Labelled a UK 10, this equates to a US 6 and we think fairly true to size although the fabric does not have any stretch to it. It would accommodate smaller sizes too, our model is a UK 6-8, US 2-4 and looks great wearing it.
