1970s Leonard Purple Printed Silk Jersey Dress
Description
This playful dress is by the French couture fashion house Leonard. Leonard designer Daniel Tribouillard defined his aesthetic using printed fabrics, much akin to Pucci with whom his designs are often associated. Bold tones of amethyst, pale pink, deep brown and lilac swirl together depicting geometric shapes and playful abstract patterns. The brand name is scattered throughout the patterns, printed in Leonard’s recognisable capitalised logo font. Cut to a mini-length, the swinging, flippy skirt flares out and swirls around the mid-thigh. The neckline is wide with a soft V and the front and back and it is lined with a nude cloth. The three-quarter sleeves and bottom hem are finished with a striped cloth in tones that compliment the body. The back closes with a nude zip.
This vibrant dress is in excellent vintage condition with no flaws of any note. No labels remain in the dress and have probably been lost to the passage of time so please check our measurements below. It does have a stretch finish which allows for a degree of flexibility on these measurements. Our model (5ft 4in / 163 cm) is a UK 6-8 and this dress was roomy. We suggest this will work for sizes up to a UK 10-12 or US 6-8.
