Description

Tita Rossi was an Italian fashion house which held haute couture, known in Italy as 'Alta Moda,' shows in Rome throughout the 1950s, ‘60s and ‘70s. This mesmerising printed silk maxi dress was couture made in the late 1970s to early 1980s. It is generously cut with a billowing silhouette created from shorter-length batwing sleeves and a loose-cut top. The waist is cinched by a wide waistband which is cut to fall below the natural waist and, when lifted to be worn at the waist, adds volume to the blousy top. The skirt falls with soft pleating from the waistband. The front of the dress has a keyhole opening which fastens at the top, alongside multiple pretty fabric-covered buttons and fabric loops securing the waist. It is worth noting that this dress could be worn either way round, depending on the look that the wearer wants. There is a removable, thin belt in coordinating floral silk at the waist. To our delight, we found slits in the folds of the skirt revealing hidden side pockets in the lining which has been crafted from fine navy silk. The original label reads “Tita Rossi Roma”.

This magnificent summer event dress is in flawless vintage condition with no faults and looks barely worn, if at all. There is no size or composition label so please check our measurements closely. The fabric does not have any stretch to it. We estimate this will work for sizes up to a UK 10 or US 6.
