Description

Emanuel Ungaro founded his Parisian couture house in 1965 after a brief stint working for both Cristobal Balenciaga and Andre Courreges. He was known for his lively prints and excellent craftsmanship and reached the height of his fame in the 1980s. This stunning gown walked the runway as part of Ungaro’s Spring 1986 collection. It is tailored from fluid Italian silk-satin in a vibrant fuchsia hue and detailed with tonal polka-dots. The gown has a high-neckline at the front and rear, and cut-out shoulders. The high-neck ties at the back in a large floppy bow above a sensuous open-back. The sleeves are long and cut with a billowing silhouette that slims gracefully towards the cuffs. The body of the dress is cut to skim the curves and fall to the floor. Unlined, the dress fastens along the rear with pretty, translucent spherical buttons.

This evening gown is in excellent vintage condition with no flaws of any note. There are no size or composition labels. Vintage sizes vary hugely so it is best to check our measurements below as the fabric has no stretch. We think it suitable for sizes up to a UK 10-12 or US 4-6 with plenty of room in the bust.
