1990s Jean Paul Gaultier Black Velvet Jacket with Jewel Toned Trim
Description
Circa 1990s, this Jean Paul Gaultier jacket is tailored from inky black velvet. The curved neckline recalls tunic styles and gives way to a front secured with large black velvet buttons and braided fabric loops. Gaultier’s canny eye for detail is illustrated across the design. The jacket is trimmed in an outlandish patterned velvet of jewel-toned geometric shapes outlined in black. The areas of vibrant velvet are adorned with metallic braid and embroidery and these embellishments adorn the collar, front of the jacket and the cuffs. It is fully lined in black cotton.
This collectable jacket is presented in excellent vintage condition. Please note, one of the buttons has been replaced with one of the same shape, colour and size but it is not velvet. It is labelled a French size 42 but vintage sizes vary so please check the measurements below as the fabric has no stretch. We estimate it will fit a range of sizes up to a UK 12 or US 8.
