Description

This show stopping flapper coat was couture made in the mid 1920s. Truly a rare piece to find, especially in such flawless condition and it's one of the best we've handled for nearly a decade. Highly wearable today without being costume-like, it is cut in a straight silhouette that falls to the calf. The fabric is stunning; dark peachy pink silk is interwoven with strands of glistening silver lamé which form a pattern of roses, leaves and vines. Next to this mesmerising cloth, the sleeves are the stand out aspect of this coat - two huge, fluffy cuffs stretch the length of the arm from wrist to elbow. This coat is lined with buttery soft silk-velvet in tonal dark peach. It fastens with two large fabric-covered buttons, one at the left shoulder and one halfway down the body. When worn open, it appears to have two large lapels and hangs gently and loosely around the wearer..

This fantastic long jacket is in truly excellent vintage condition, particularly for a piece of over a century of age, and has no flaws of any note. Any label the coat had has been lost with the passage of time. The fabric has no stretch but this will suit a wide variety of sizes both open and closed.
