1950s Purple and Turquoise Floral Organza Ruched Dress

An exceptional late 1950s dress tailored from a lightweight manmade organza fabric. Printed all-over with a pretty floral pattern in a muted palette of lilac and turquoise hues. The silhouette is classic 1950s: the ruched organza top has a sweetheart neckline and is held aloft by four tiny spaghetti straps in coordinating organza, the waist is cinched with boning and the skirt is full. The skirt is lined with a thick, stiff muslin and white tulle to add volume. The organza that is layered over it is tucked and pinned to form a sash across the front of the dress. It fastens at the centre back with a hidden white zip and hook-and-eye; fully lined with cream satin.

In excellent vintage condition with no issues. The fabric has no stretch and there are no labels remaining in the dress which is superbly made. Possibly a British couture, or very high-end ready to wear piece. Our model's sizes are: Bust: 34" (87cm), Waist: 24" (61cm), Hips: 34.5" (88cm) and Height: 5' 7" (170cm). She's a size UK 6, US 2 and this fit her well.
