1960s Couture Patchwork Chinese Silk Coat
Description
Stunning and original vintage 1960s A-line patchwork Chinese silk coat. This duster coat is very unusual and is entirely made from a repeat pattern of imported Chinese silk fabrics in black, greens, blue and orange. The silk jacquard fabrics each have different oriental designs: bamboo, blossom, clouds and Imperial insignia. Probably bespoke made for the client, the construction and quality is impeccable. The coat came from a very wealthy Hamptons estate with a dazzling array of clothing from American's greatest designers: Bill Blass, Oscar de la Renta, Bob Mackie and Halston. Many haute couture peices from Givenchy and Christian Dior ranging from the 1950s - 1970s were also in this collection and which I have for sale. I've no doubt this is designed by somebody important in fashion history but sadly this has no makers labels. It's such a striking piece that would brighten up any outfit and is especially good over black. It is fully lined in orange silk and closes at the front with 3 concealed hook and eye fastenings. With no noticeable flaws, it looks barely worn and in excellent vintage condition. A good fit for small to medium sizes up to UK size 10, US 6.
