Description

A supremely well made dress and tailored to a timeless, pencil silhouette with capped sleeves, this is a little black number you’ll pull out of your wardrobe time and time again. Fashioned from best quality thick black crepe, it was crafted by Herman Marcus in the late 1950s or very early 1960s. The tailoring is hugely flattering, hugging the waist and falling in a pencil skirt silhouette. The neckline has a decadent collar which covers the shoulders like a shawl, meeting at the chest where it is finished with two large, flamboyant rosettes. The skirt is lined with soft black satin. This elegant gown is secured with a hidden tonal zip and hook-and-eye clasp at the rear.

This dress is in excellent vintage condition with no faults of any note and looks barely worn. Due to its age, it has no size or composition label so please check our measurements closely. The fabric does not have any stretch. We estimate a good fit for up to a UK 10 or US 6.
