1970s Green and Gold Long-Sleeve Metallic Lame Maxi-Dress
Description
This high-glamour maxi-gown is circa late 1960s to very early 1970s. The fabric is stunning; glistening gold stripes are woven horizontally atop silk chiffon printed with a psychedelic swirl of lime green, teal, white and deep purple. The chiffon is sheer and so the dress is lined with a full-length apple green satin slip. The sleeves are unlined and therefore sheer, finished with three spherical fabric-covered buttons at the cuffs. This gown is cut to a graceful, sweeping maxi silhouette with a rounded neckline. The skirt is pleated and falls to the floor. The dress fastens at the back with a hidden tonal green zip and hook-and-eye clasp.
This vivacious dress is in excellent vintage condition with no issues at all. Unlabelled but of superb quality and almost certainly retailed in one of the top USA department stores or boutiques of the day. There is no size or composition label so please check our measurements below. The fabric does not have any stretch to it. Our model's sizes are: Bust: 34" (87cm), Waist: 24" (61cm), Hips: 34" (86cm) and Height: 5' 4" (164cm). She's a size UK 6, US 0-2 and it fit her well with the dress accommodating up to a UK 8 or US 4. We have styled with a 1970s gold leather belt which is not included.
