1979 Runway Documented Janice Wainwright Lace Tunic Top
Description
Janice Wainwright created high-end designer clothes that had elaborate, craft-like detailing. She founded her own company in 1970 after working for Simon Massey and freelancing during the 1960s. “I like each garment to be a nice object,” she said and she succeeded. As a result, her British-made clothes are highly sought-after today.
The Circa team was delighted to research a near identical but more elaborate design for the Fall 1979 collection held at the fashionable Langan's Brasserie in London that April. We have also included a similar look with lurex insertions where the fluid jersey is more similar to this design which is crafted from hazelnut brown jersey-viscose. The loose, fluid silhouette is detailed with elaborately embroidered lace in russet and gold hues whilst the neck has a drawstring closure allowing the wearer to tie it or wear it relaxed and open.
This collectable and documented vintage piece is in truly excellent condition with no flaws of any note. Labelled a vintage UK 10 or US 6 and fairly true to size.
