1983 Runway Saint Laurent Floral and Polka-Dot Bell-Sleeve Silk Dress

This Yves Saint Laurent floral silk dress walked the runway for his S/S 1983 collection. Designed for his ready to wear label "Rive Gauche", a reference to Paris’s younger, trendier Left Bank, this was a much lauded collection. Tailored to a classic 1980s style, the fabric is black and printed with emerald green polka-dots and splashy florals in orange, cobalt blue, magenta, navy and red. The silhouette is relaxed with a gentle V-neckline and huge, playful balloon-sleeves that fasten at the cuff with a single button. The waistband is gently shaped but can be cinched further with a coordinating fabric belt that is attached at the centre back. The dress is unlined and fastens at the back with a small round black plastic button.

In truly excellent vintage condition - looks barely worn with no issues. It has no composition label and the fabric has no stretch. Labelled a French size 42 but it runs a bit smaller so please check our measurements below. Our model's sizes are: Bust: 37” (94cm), Waist: 31” (80cm), Hips: 45” (114cm) and Height: 5' 10.5" (180cm). She's a size UK 12-14, US 8-10 and this was a great fit on her.
