1986 Alaïa Documented Indigo Cotton Pencil Skirt with Zip
Description
This skirt was created as part of Azzedine Alaia's Spring 1986 collection and is one of the most memorable collections of his career. Tailored from thick smooth cotton that recalls French workwear styles, this elegant pencil skirt is in the indigo purple-navy shade that became a signature of the house. A designer known for accentuating his client’s curves, it is cut to a hip-hugging, high-waist silhouette. It has a wide waistband that closes with two visible snap closures in brass. Below this, a chunky brass zip falls diagonally to the bottom hem. The rear is finished with two zip pockets with chunky brass zips. The skirt is unlined.
This piece is in excellent vintage condition with no flaws and is very fresh looking. The fabric is 100% Cotton with no stretch. Labelled a French 42 but Alaia runs very small and this is better suited in modern sizes up to a UK 10 or US 6.
