1987 Chanel Gold Double Chain Strand Belt with Perfume Bottle Charm
Description
This Chanel perfume belt is from the original 1987 collection; Karl Lagerfeld frequently showcased variations of this belt on the runway during the late 1980s and early 1990s and in 1987, Chanel famously celebrated the launch of the No. 5 Eau de Parfum. To mark the occasion, Lagerfeld designed oversized accessories honoring the house's fragrance heritage, including the signature chain and leather belts featuring the iconic "No. 5" perfume bottle motif. The belt featured in the ad campaign worn by Chanel model and muse, Ines de la Fressange.
Crafted from 24ct gold plated metal curb chains, there are two conjoined chains which circle the waist. The belt is adorned with three further chains that loop down and hang over the waist. It is finished with a weighty perfume bottle charm which reads “Coco Chanel”. The belt is secured with a large hook.
In very good to excellent vintage condition with no wear to the chains. There are some very light marks and a bit of tarnish to the perfume bottle charm but nothing which detracts.
