1995 Chanel Navy and Cream Dress and Jacket Suit

Made in France, this elegant cream and navy-blue dress suit was designed by Chanel for its Spring 1995 collection. The neat, inverted double-breasted design featured heavily throughout the runway presentation on suits, trousers, jackets and waistcoats. The collection brought together nautical styles that were frequently referenced by both Coco Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld during the brand’s history and are something of a House code.

Bringing the brand’s tailoring sophistication to a simple pinafore silhouette, the dress is sleeveless and has a pleated skirt which falls to the knee. Cut from pure wool with a textured handle, the top half of this monochrome dress is cream, and the bottom half is navy. The top of the dress is also pleated and is detailed with five navy buttons topped with the brand’s instantly recognisable double-C insignia in gold. The dress has a wide waistband which anchors the relaxed silhouette. It is fully lined in cream and navy silk which has the Chanel logo intarsia woven into it. The boxy, suit-style jacket is in navy wool with a navy logo-woven silk lining. It is double-breasted and features 12 navy and gold logo buttons. The collar is adaptable and can be worn open which reveals the contrasting cream bodice, or closed, as is the wearer’s preference. Each cuff also features four iconic logo buttons.

This elegant ensemble is in excellent vintage condition with no flaws of any note - the perfect addition to a Chanel collector’s archive. The outer cloth is 100% Wool and the lining is 100% Silk. It is labelled a French size 40, which equates to a UK 10-12 or US 6-8 but please check our measurements below carefully as vintage Chanel runs small. The fabric has no stretch.
