Description

This pretty dress walked the runway as look 20/37 of Alexander McQueen’s Spring 2005 collection. For this collection, McQueen was inspired by the 1975 film Picnic at Hanging Rock and the whimsical, Edwardian-era innocence of the costumes. This floaty dress is tailored from a patchwork of semi-sheer, lightweight cottons. Printed with paisleys, embellished with yellow lace and patterned with blown-up yellow roses, they lend the dress a 1970s pastoral feel. The dress is cut to an empire-line silhouette and the full-skirt falls from under a sleeveless, button-up bust. The decolletage is crafted from sheer yellow lace and trimmed with cream grosgrain ribbon. The neckline closes with pretty flower-embossed mother-of-pearl buttons through yellow fabric loops whilst the collar is trimmed with yellow lace. The dress is unlined.

In excellent archival vintage condition with no issues save for composition label missing. Labelled an Italian 40 which equates to a US 4 and UK 8. The cotton fabric has no stretch.
