2009 Resort John Galliano for Christian Dior Malachite Necklace
Description
This show-stopper of a necklace walked the runway for many of the looks at Christian Dior’s Resort 2009 show. The glowing Vogue review said that this collection was for “grandes dames like Barbara Hutton, Millicent Rogers, and Nan Kempner - women who weren’t afraid to make a bold sartorial statement, one that preferably involved a whopping piece of jewelry”. Designed under John Galliano creative direction, this necklace embodies the flamboyant designer’s telltale glamour and canny eye-for-detail. Five large ovals of vibrant green faux malachite are backed by gold-toned metal and each secured in place with a pair of gold-tone hooks detailed with glittering rhinestones. A rhinestone detailed “D” logo sits to the right of the central stone and is stamped on the back with “Dior”. Two rhinestone detailed circular beads sit either side of the outer stones and either side of the clasp. The chain is a heavy box chain in polished gold-tone metal. The clasp is chunky, rectangular and adorned with rhinestones. It fastens to a belcher chain which has multiple rings, allowing an adjustable fit. Another “D” logo hangs from the belcher chain at the back of the neck - again, stamped on one side with the brand name.
This piece is in excellent vintage condition with no flaws to the stones or gold-tone metal. The length is adjustable.
