1960s Jo Ro Imports Blue and Cream Sequin Shift-Dress

This early 1960s sequin and beaded dress was designed by Boutique by Jo Ro Imports. Crafted to the highest quality, it is tailored from rayon fabric and smothered all over in tiny iridescent sequins. The dress is cut to a shift-dress style, sleeveless with a rounded neckline. It has a blouson top which overhangs a nipped-in waist and falls to around knee length on most wearers. The top of the dress is adorned with further embellishment in the form of bright turquoise beads woven to form intricate vines dotted with flowers in bloom. The dress fastens at the back with a hidden tonal zip and hook-and-eye clasp. This beautiful dress is lined with white crepe. The label reads, “Made in Hong Kong”; an area known for its exceptional embellished garment making during the 1960s and 1970s.

The dress is in very good to excellent vintage condition and presents beautifully. On close inspection we noted very faint halos under the arms and there is a tiny amount of sequin loss which you'd never notice when the dress is being worn. It is labelled a vintage size 12 but in modern sizing would be a better fit for sizes UK 8-10 or US 4-6. The fabric has no stretch.
