1970s Rose Marie Reid Colourful Paisley Print Maxi Dress
Description
This vivid 1970s sleeveless maxi dress was designed by Rose Marie Reid. A fascinating example of Rose Marie Reid’s later design work, bridging her background in structured mid-century swimwear with the relaxed, fluid forms of 1970s resort wear. It is made from a smooth, cool manmade fabric with a subtle stretch and silky hand, reminiscent of the designer’s signature swimwear materials. The bold paisley print combines crimson, purple, olive, teal, and white in swirling, graphic patterns. The dress features a V-neckline and a keyhole cut-out at the back, fastening above with three fabric-covered buttons and loops. The skirt is tailored to a gentle A-line shape. It is unlined except for a built-in pale beige bust lining, shaped like a soft, elasticated bandeau that closes separately at the back.
