Description

From the mid 1970s to early 1980s, Renaud Pellegrino designed accessories for the House of Yves Saint Laurent before opening his namesake boutique in 1983. He become known as one of the best evening bag makers in Paris and his high society clientele included Catherine Deneuve, Paloma Picasso, Isabelle Adjani, Queen Rania of Jordan, and Lauren Bacall.

Pellegrino's artistic flare and penchant for bold colours is evident in the design of this shoulder bag which is entirely handcrafted. Resplendent in a vibrant fuchsia moire cloth with a ribbed texture, it has a curved flap closure that echoes the curves of the bag. The bag flap closes through a sculptural, translucent acrylic clasp which is attached to the bag with four chunky gold-toned metal studs. There is a long fuchsia handle created using a twisted braid that can be tucked inside the bag to use it as a clutch. Inside there is a single compartment with one large pocket with tonal zip. A black leather label has been stitched in that reads “Renaud Pellegrino Paris Made in France”. This elegant bag is in very good vintage condition with only gentle wear noted - no issues.
