1920s Pink Silk Slip with Embroidered Moth Motif
Description
This is an antique silk pink slip and is without question the finest 1920s original in our extensive collection. It's a typical 20s roomy and square shaped style with plain shoulder straps about 3/4 of an inch or 1.5 centimetres across. The décolleté has a machined scalloped edge and there is a beautiful satin stitch and tulle insert moth motif with additional floral design embroidery. This front facing moth motif is also echoed on the bottom scalloped hem with an additional two months facing inwards in side profile. At the low waist point on the side, the slip has a godet seam which increases the amount of fabric as the dress heads towards the mid-calf.
Unlabelled but just the most remarkable quality silk and in really superb antique condition. On very close inspection and only in a certain light we noticed a faint drink stain but you really do have to be looking extremely closely to see this. It is not noticeable when worn. A rare and early silk slip, we haven't had another this good for many years. It will fit a range of sizes but we think it is best suited to UK sizes 14 to 16 or a US 12.
