1950s Kahn of Florida Gold Confetti Lucite Double Handled Bag
Description
1950s clear and pearlescent hexagonal confetti lucite bag. The original label reads 'Charles S. Kahn Inc. - Miami, Florida', a collectable brand known as Kahn of Florida. Some of the most spectacular and expensive lucite bags were made in Miami, the home of the "Florida style" lucite bag, as the resort was frequented by the rich and famous during the 1950s. This hexagonal bag is one of the most desirable shapes for collectors; the pearlescent lucite body is detailed with strands of gold confetti, whilst the lucite top is carved and textured with a quilted style pattern. The two handles are crafted from sheer lucite and there are 4 small, moulded lucite balls for the feet rests.
Overall, in good condition for its age and rarity; very slight surface scratches present and light rubbing to the chrome hardware. The confetti lucite body and hinged lid are in excellent working order. The carved lucite top has suffered a fair amount of the crackle 'crazing' to the underside that effects these bags as they age. Structurally there are no 'showstoppers' - the crazing is very fine and in keeping with age. It was hard to capture in bright studio lights so we've added an additional photo of the top. When the bag is in use, its not at all noticeable in our opinion.
